Welcome to May and warmer weather and more sunshine! It’s such a welcome relief to wake up to brighter days and end with stunning sunsets.
The SBCA Board of Directors has been busy reviewing and updating policies as well as adopting a new policy this spring. We have updated and adopted our Collection and Enforcement Policies based on the updated Washington State law, RCW (Revised Code of Washington) 64.90. Both have been uploaded to our SBCA website under Governing Documents. After months of review and revision, the Board approved updates to our Bylaws which members will vote to approve and adopt at our July Annual Meeting. The Bylaws have been updated to meet the requirements of RCW 64.90. Along with these policies, the Board created a new policy and procedure for Donations, and that policy along with related Procedures and Donation forms, was approved and
adopted by the Board at the April Board meeting. These documents have been uploaded to our SBCA website as well.
At their April 9 Board meeting, the Board of Directors approved of the Pro-forma budget for the 2026-2027 Fiscal Year. Prior to the meeting, two committees, Facilities and Finance, provided support for the development and refinement of the budget. A copy of this pro forma budget can be found on our Bay Club website.
We have an incredible number of events planned for May and June. Please check out the SBCA Important Dates box to the right of this article (print edition). We have many presentations scheduled this month from Jefferson County Historical Museum to the CIA, Myth and Reality. All our presentations start at 1 p.m. and are usually held in the Auditorium. We have planned an exciting Fiesta Mexicana on May 8 (catered by Molcajete restaurant) and a BBQ of dogs and burgers on June 12 with grill masters Ted, Gil, and Geoff operating the grills. More details can be found on our Bay Club website.
An event we especially want to point out is our Memorial Day Celebration on May 25 from 10 a.m. – noon. We will have guest speakers who will speak from their hearts and share their thoughts on what Memorial Day means to them. We will have a bagpiper playing Amazing Grace and two buglers playing Taps. Please join us for this solemn event as we commemorate American military personnel who died in all wars, including World War II, The Vietnam War, The Korean War, and the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Iran..
