People love their pets and marvel at their intelligence, unique personalities, and apparent empathy and communication skills. No doubt most people chat with their cat or gab with their Lab, interpreting a bark, meow, or head tilt as their pet’s response. You’ve seen this type of exchange in the Dr. Dolittle or Ace Ventura: Pet Detective movies. In the upcoming Ludlow Village Players’ production of Pets (and Their Humans), you’ll find out that Brad also has the ability to converse with his pets.
Years after his wife’s sudden death, Brad (Michael Haberpointner), is still grieving the loss in the only way he knows how by talking with his pet dog, Titina (Starley Flynn) and his cat, Mac (Jeff Groves). Titina and Mac give him advice to help him move on and debate issues of philosophy and the meaning of life. Brad’s younger daughter, Cassie (Anja Haberpointner) shares Dad’s skill, much to the dismay and disbelief of older daughter, Barb (October Flynn-Freeman). As Brad starts dating again, Brad’s new girlfriend, Stefanie (Caroline Miner), begins to question Brad’s sanity after hearing he has interactive conversations with his pets. To top it off, a bigger surprise involves Stefanie’s puppy, Scout (Bella Rose Dillon), who threatens to ruin their budding relationship.
A funny and poignant look at the role animals play in our lives, Pets (and Their Humans) is the perfect show for any pet lover. Come see Port Ludlow’s physical therapist and the rest of the pets and humans, all herded by Co-Directors, Kate Marshall and Ted Brown.
