The Seahawks have the 12s, but we have the 219s! We have recently wrapped up our annual resident survey where we asked people about what matters to them and where they would like us to focus our energy for the next year. Who are the 219s? Those are the residents who responded to our survey! This may seem like a small number compared to the roughly 1800 homes we serve. However, in late 2024 when we last did this, we only received 64 responses. So 219 is almost 3.5 times more than a little over a year ago! We appreciate all who took the time to participate, and we have given three randomly selected respondents a $50 gift card to a local restaurant of their choice. The winners selected Oreo’s, Ground to Perfection Too, and The Fireside. We will take a couple of months to parse the data and provide a summary via our website PortLudlowVillageCouncil.org, a board meeting, and/or a Voice article later this spring. A number of folks who completed the survey also indicated an interest in getting involved as an event volunteer, committee member, or community participant. If you have not heard from us by the time this hits your mailbox, please accept my apologies and email us at info@PortLudlowVillageCouncil.org.
Our Communications Committee has formalized dates for the 2nd Annual Community Yard Sale, scheduled for May 23, and the Canine Costume Parade, scheduled for October 3. Watch for details soon on both events via our website and our eblasts. Not getting our eblasts? Sign up on our website! We send two routine emails per month detailing upcoming community events we think might be of interest to our community, highlight local businesses, and briefly touch on Council business. We also occasionally send a third email about specific topics such as important public meetings or issues. Give it a try, you can always unsubscribe if it is not of interest to you.
We have heard repeatedly from residents that there is no single place to look for all things Port Ludlow, and we want to provide that place! Our Communications Committee continues to build out our Community Events Calendar and our Clubs (which is really much broader than that and includes local classes, service organizations, and groups) on our website and we need your help. Know of an upcoming event of interest? Do you teach a class or run a club? We want to help promote your group!
Our Trails Committee has recently completed an update of their comprehensive Trail Map! The new map is available on our website as well as the Hiking Club’s portludlowhikingclub.com. Printed versions will be popping up soon as the Trails Committee secured a grant from the Jefferson County Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) to cover the cost of this effort. Kudos to Larry and his crew!
Our Finance and Fundrai$ing Committee is working on a number of initiatives from fundraising to recognition of both our Donors and Volunteers. They are finalizing the details of a raffle that will include monthly drawings at our Board Meetings (need not be present to win) as well as grand prize drawings at our annual meeting (must be present to win). Look for details next month here and via our website and eblasts.
Finally, look for us out and about this spring and summer. We’ll have a staffed table at the Friday Market each week selling raffle tickets and listening to your ideas. We are also planning to have a monthly informal session, likely the last Friday of the month, mid-morning, for a couple of hours where you can come to share your ideas outside the formal setting of a board or committee meeting. Details soon, you know where to find them by now – but just in case you are a skip to the punchline reader – on our website and eblasts!
Your Port Ludlow Village Council has been working hard in service to our community this winter and looks forward to seeing you out and about this spring!
