The following programs are open to all Port Ludlow community residents. Programs are held at the Bay Club, 120 Spinnaker Place, and begin at 1 p.m.. Programs are free of charge. Topics and speakers from a multitude of backgrounds are offered for our residents. As important as it is to continue to strengthen the body, it is just as important to continue to strengthen the mind.

Wow, last month was crazy with 6 presentations containing lots of information. This month we are taking a little breather (it’s election time so don’t forget to vote), with just 4 presentations. Jefferson Healthcare will start us out discussing their new Ear, Nose and Throat specialty; this will be followed by a genealogy discussion for those of us who have questions about “I’m related to who?”; then David Brownell will be doing a brand new presentation on the history of Port Ludlow; and we finish the month with a talk on the Washington State Ferry System. Here are the particulars:

Tuesday, November 10 - Jefferson Healthcare has expanded access to specialized foot and ankle care with the launch of a new podiatry service line. Edee Brocklesby, DPM, a Foot and Ankle Surgeon, is joining Jefferson Healthcare to provide comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of foot and ankle conditions. For many people, foot and ankle problems can make it difficult to do the things they enjoy, from hiking and gardening to playing sports, working, or simply getting through the day without pain. Until now, patients in our community often had to travel significant distances to see a foot and ankle specialist or wait months for an appointment. The new podiatry service at Jefferson Healthcare is designed to help change that.

Tuesday, November 17 - Ever wonder about those relatives mom and dad seemed to not want to discuss? Well, Cathy Beatty-O’Shea from the Jefferson County Genealogical Society, will talk about how you might go about filling in your family gaps. She will talk about genealogy in general, ethics and philosophies, and discuss different sources that can be used. However, beware some things you learn may surprise you!

Wednesday, November 18 - David Brownell joins us once again, and this time with his first-ever presentation of the specific history of Port Ludlow. This should be a fun and illuminating look at the place we call home.

Tuesday, November 24 - Ferry Tales – Washington State Ferries' Dana Warr shares a behind-the-scenes look at the largest ferry system in North America. Learn more about the history of Washington State Ferries and how the system works. Dana will provide information on the many ways WSF serves its communities, updates on new vessel construction, and take questions on all things ferries.
