Were you at the free concert in August? The Barn Cats played, the dancing shoes came out, and an afternoon of neighbors, lawn chairs, and art and crafts turned into one of the most enjoyable afternoons in Port Ludlow. Special thanks to the band, Port Ludlow Art League, Jefferson Healthcare, and to everyone who rocked out with us until the very end.

As the weather changes, the Port Ludlow Performing Arts moves indoors for the start of their concert season with Tap Into Soul.

Solomon Jaye
Solomon Jaye

Solomon Jaye is billed as America’s premier tap-dancing soul singer, which reads like a stretch until you watch him do both at once. A Houston native, he studied voice and musical theatre at Oklahoma City University and trained as a hoofer under Heather Cornell and Robert L. Reed. He has since shared credits with Pentatonix, Jessie J, Robin Thicke, and Shoshana Bean.

Tap Into Soul puts that training to feature a setlist drawn from Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Jaye’s own songs woven through. His performance uses multi-octave vocals, a guitar, and tap laid down like a second rhythm section. Critical reviews compare Jaye to Marvin Gaye on the vocals and Sammy Davis Jr. on the feet. Join us Saturday, November 14, 7 p.m., at the Bay Club. To purchase tickets, visit portludlowperformingarts.com. The Bay Club is located at 120 Spinnaker Place, Port Ludlow.

Our thanks to underwriters Debra Richtmeyer and Steve Rummel in memory of Gary, Terri Ross in memory of Lanny, Jason and Cheryl Wright, and to our Corporate Season Sponsor, Jefferson Healthcare Foundation. This project is supported in part by Creative West that receives support in part from the National Endowment for the Arts.
