The Port Townsend Symphony Orchestra is entering an exciting and pivotal season as it launches the final phase of its search for a new conductor and artistic director.  This year’s search drew 30 highly qualified applicants from across the Puget Sound region and beyond. After months of review and interviews, the search committee selected four finalists.

During the 2026–2027 concert season, each finalist will rehearse with the orchestra and conduct one full concert, giving musicians and audiences the opportunity to experience each candidate’s artistic vision. Each conductor collaborated with the orchestra to select the repertoire for their audition. The finalists and their concerts are scheduled for the following dates:

  • Matthew Salvaggio’s concert on Sunday, October 25, 2 p.m.

  • Hsing‑Hui Hsu’s concert on Sunday, December 6, 2 p.m.

  • Faith Foster’s concert on Sunday, February 28, 2027, 2 p.m.

  • Thomas Blomster’s concert on Sunday, April 25, 2027, 2 p.m.

This season of concerts will be an eclectic and engaging experience, providing a true indication of each candidate’s unique qualities.

Concerts are held at Chimacum School Auditorium located at 91 W. Valley Road, Chimacum. For more information about the finalists and their concert programs, visit ptsymphony.org.
