Meet the author of this year's adult summer read on Wednesday, September 2, 4:30 – 6 p.m. With stories and images from his recent book, Close to Home: The Wonders of Nature Just Outside Your Door, Thor Hanson reminds us to appreciate the remarkable biodiversity that surrounds us every day. Registration required.


Looking for more stories? Author and translator Barbara Sjoholm will read from her new landmark translation of Sámi folktales, Sámi Folktales from the Near and Far Worlds, on Wednesday, September 9, 5 – 6 p.m. This is the first time these 300 traditional stories are being told in English.


Join WSU Master Gardeners for a talk and Q&A session on “Furry Garden Pests” on Saturday, September 12, 12 – 1 p.m. Afterward, head to the next room to ask any other gardening questions at the WSU Master Gardener's Plant Clinic, from 1 – 3 p.m.


Let’s get spinning with Introduction to Spinning Wool with a Drop Spindle on Monday, September 14, 2 – 5 p.m. Fiber artist Dean Hyden will talk about the structure, properties, and types of wool fiber, discuss wool preparation, demonstrate drop spindle and spinning techniques, and more! Registration required.
