The Port Ludlow Women’s Golf League (PLWGA) enjoyed the May 18 and 19 Spring Fling event planned by Chairpersons Shayna Worley and Sue Fechner. After two days of friendly golf, all members enjoyed a lovely luncheon at The Resort at Port Ludlow.
The Captain’s Cup, a team match play tournament, is scheduled for June 8, 10, and 12, with a rain date of June 16. Matches will be played until winners are crowned.
Head Pro, Jim Mancill, announced that the PL Golf Course will host a Women’s Invitational Tournament on June 30, and he encourages all PLWGA members to play in this tournament. Other Washington women’s leagues have been invited. League members are asked to donate silent auction raffle items and/or raffle baskets for the tournament. Please contact Bonnie Vahcic, Lucinda Thompson, or Teri Gangi-Helder to donate.
Members who attended the “Play Day Away” at Wing Point Golf course on May 11 had a marvelous time, thanks to the excellent planning by Chairperson Elaine Girard. The next “Play Away Day” will be on Monday, June 15. Chairs Kathi Williams and Lucinda Thompson are planning the “Gals Getaway” in the Bend, Oregon, area later this summer.
PL Golf Professional, Jim Mancill, commended Course Superintendent, Shawn Vetterick, and his PLGC staff for doing a wonderful job improving course drainage and irrigation problems in the off season. Their March aerification greatly improved the condition of the greens.
PLWGA Captain, Linda Aho, invites prospective PLWGA members to play with the group any Tuesday. To sign up to play with the PLWGA or to join the league, please contact the Port Ludlow Golf Course Pro Shop at 360-437-0272.
Note: Port Ludlow Golf Club membership is no longer a requisite for joining the golf leagues.
