Port Ludlow Niners’ News

by Kathleen Traci, Niners’ Publicity Chairperson

Niners’ games in September included Criers, Mutt and Jeff, and Blind Draw (Mixed Partners). The  Couples’ Shamble event was well attended. Throughout the season, JR’s Sandtrap Café provided excellent post-game luncheons for all who stayed after the play. On October 15, the last Niners’ Couples Scramble event will precede the End of the Season Niners’ Banquet at the Bay Club.

Niner members are looking forward to the Niners’ Banquet on October 16. At the Banquet, Niners’ captain, John Bockoven, will announce the winners of the Captain’s Cups for men and women – the three-day tournament that took place during the season. The 2026 Eclectic Awards will be presented to the man and woman who lowered their scores the most on individual holes during the season. Also feted will be the Niners’ who shot at least one birdie during the 2026 season. John will also announce the names of the most improved male and female league members. The Port Ludlow Golf Course’s software program, Golf Genius, tracks statistics for these awards.

Bockoven will be presented with a gift from the members as a thank you for his excellent leadership in 2026. The Niners’ slate of officers for 2027 will be announced.

The new Niners’ Captain will announce the many events planned for the 2027 Niners’ season, including a repeat of the highly successful Putt and Pour event. The annual Lady Niners’ afternoon social will take place in February, and the 2027 Niners’ season will lead off with a cocktail party at the end of March 2027.

Off-season Casual Play opportunities will be emailed to interested league members via Golf Genius. If members wish to receive these golf invitations, they need to contact Linda Haskin. Non-members who wish to play with the PL Women in the off-season, need to contact the PLGC pro-shop. PL Golf Course membership is no longer required for membership in the Niners’ League.
