Plan Ahead for Fire Rescue Fest

Mark your calendars to attend East Jefferson Fire Rescue’s (EJFR) 5th Annual Fire Rescue Fest on Saturday, Oct. 10, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., in front of Fire Station 1 on Lawrence Street in Port Townsend.


There will be demonstrations of past and current emergency response techniques including bucket brigades, fire hose competitions, technical rescue demonstrations, cooking safety, and more. Other agencies participating with EJFR include the Department of Emergency Management, JeffCom 911, local radio station KPTZ, Washington Poison Control, Jefferson County Sheriff, Port Townsend Police Department, and more.


This year’s National Fire Prevention Week theme is “Charge into Fire Safety - Safe Charging Is a Superpower” focusing on preventing lithium-ion battery fires. Information will be provided on properly charging your cellphone to avoid fires and safe ways to charge tools and scooters.
