Master Gardner Volunteer Training

WSU Jefferson County Extension is now accepting applications for the 2026-27 Master Gardener Volunteer Training Program. This class is an opportunity to expand your gardening knowledge while making a difference through volunteer service. The program welcomes gardeners of all experience levels who are eager to learn and share research-based horticultural information with others.

The training program combines self-paced online learning, live Zoom presentations, and in-person classes beginning in October 2026. Participants will explore a wide range of topics, including soils, insects, plant health, pruning, sustainable gardening practices, and food production, while learning from WSU educators and local experts.

Upon completion of training, participants provide volunteer service through educational outreach, community garden projects, food bank gardens, the Jefferson County Seed Library, and other programs that support local residents and promote environmentally sound gardening practices.

Applications are open now. To allow sufficient time for the interview process and required background check, applicants are encouraged to submit materials by Friday, September 25. Registration closes Wednesday, September 30. Tuition assistance is available.
