1 min read

Richard Powers’s follow-up novel to his Pulitzer Prize winner, The Overstory, is Bewilderment, published in 2021. In this story, Theo, an astrobiologist seeking clues about life on other planets, is widowed and becomes a single parent raising his nine-year-old son, Robin, who has been diagnosed as having a neurodivergent disorder. Challenges abound as Robin does not do well in a normal classroom. Theo must find ways to help his son adapt and fit into society without drugs. Join the members of Martha’s Book Group as they discuss Powers’s novel during their Tuesday, September 8, meeting.

Martha’s Book Group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at the Bay Club starting at 4 p.m. New readers are always welcome. For more information about books to be discussed this fall contact Sarah Schuch at bookclub@plvoice.org.
