Gallery 9 - Featured Artists
For September, featured artists at Gallery-9 are Madeline Nelson with paintings, and Robin McKann with fine woodworking.

Robin McKann, a masterful woodworker with decades of experience, creates with spalted and figured alder and maple, plus myrtle and well-aged exotic woods. His designs, inspired by James Krenov, Sam Maloof, and Mother Nature, feature natural, curvaceous forms and innovative swinging drawers and lids. Robin also puts his artistic twist on functional and portable boxes and cutting boards. Robin’s fine woodworking is found exclusively at Gallery-9 in Port Townsend, WA, where he has been a member since 2008.
Madeline Nelson is a painter who prefers to work from life, working primarily in oil as well as various water media. Madeline states, “Even the stillest still life moves. Light shifts in color and intensity, binocular vision plays its wonderful tricks. The longer and more carefully I look, the more layers of perception unfold. I particularly enjoy painting outdoors, largely surrendering control, hoping to capture an essence.”

Since 2022, Madeline has organized outdoor painting and drawing sessions with Quimper Arts. Since joining Gallery 9 in 2025, she has made it a personal challenge to show at least five paintings each month that have not been seen in Port Townsend.
Gallery-9, at 1012 Water Street in Port Townsend, is a cooperative of local artists open seven days a week, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., and until 8 p.m. every first Saturday of each month for Art Walk. For more information, visit gallery-9.com.
