First Wednesday Luncheon
by Stephanie Buehler, Guest Writer
We are excited to open our season on Wednesday, October 7, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., at the Beach Club, with a presentation by Annie Scott, Director of the Jefferson County Library District. Annie holds an MS in Library and Information Science from Drexel University and brings over two decades of leadership experience spanning a range of library models--privately funded, municipally funded and governed, and her favorite: special district libraries like ours. Throughout her career, Annie has focused on positioning libraries as trusted civic anchors rooted in their communities while connected to broader cultural life.
Her presentation topics will include:
statistics of the library district use throughout East Jefferson County
Bookmobile Story—how it continued servicing after losing the Bookmobile in an accident in 2025 and finding/outfitting a replacement
A brighter, greener library—the LED conversion and solar carport initiative
Digital equity navigation, cooperative partnerships with area school and public libraries, and mobile service to rural communities
How residents can engage with, use, and support their library district
There will be time allotted for Q&A as well.
A salad buffet will be provided at this luncheon along with plates, napkins and cutlery. Coffee, tea and cookies will be included.
Please RSVP to firstwednesdayluncheon@gmail.com or sign up at either the Bay or Beach Club no later than October 2.
There is no charge to attend our luncheons. Instead, we ask that you bring a donation in the form of cash, check made payable to the Jefferson County Food Bank Association (JCFBA) and/or non-perishable food such as condiments, coffee, peanut butter, jelly, canned meat, boxed pasta, and hygiene products. Food donations must be unopened, undamaged and unexpired.
Be sure to mark your calendar for our next luncheon on November 4.
