The Port Ludlow Art League challenges traditional boundaries of fine art this summer with its upcoming exhibit, Doodle Art. Running from July through August, the showcase features original artwork from art league members who have embraced the doodle as a legitimate and powerful medium for visual expression.
While doodling is often dismissed as a mindless distraction, the exhibit aims to reframe it as a creative catalyst. Doodling bridges the gap between subconscious creativity and structured storytelling. When the mind relaxes, the pen moves freely, uncovering unexpected symbols, patterns, and narratives that might otherwise remain buried beneath conscious thought.
Beyond its artistic merit, research reveals that doodling enhances memory retention, sharpens focus during complex tasks, and actively stimulates problem solving. A simple scribble can unlock innovative solutions to artistic and intellectual challenges.
After you stroll through the Doodle Art exhibit, try your hand at doodle art on the canvas in the lobby. You’ll find all the supplies you’ll need to unlock your creativity.
The Bay Club is located at 120 Spinnaker Lane in Port Ludlow. For more information on art exhibits at the Bay Club, please email Sheryl Goldsberry at info@portludlowart.org.
