PLVC Second Annual Canine Costume Parade
Your Port Ludlow Village Council is excited to announce its Second Annual Canine Costume Parade to be held on Saturday, October 3. Just in time for Halloween, the fun will kick off at the Port Ludlow Resort Hotel, from 11 a.m – 1 p.m., with the dog costume parade starting at noon. Dog owners will dress their canines (and optionally themselves) in comfortable costumes and follow a short parade route along the water, led by a Grand Marshal. Our esteemed judge will select the top three costumed canines for recognition. Dogs must have up-to-date rabies vaccinations and be on leash at all times to participate.
There will also be an opportunity for pet owners to submit one photo of any pet online. Photos will be showcased on our website.
New This Year:
Scarecrow Walk
Homemade scarecrow creations will be displayed along the Scarecrow Walk during the Canine Costume Parade. The event is free to enter and attend. A super prize will be awarded for "Best in Crow," as voted by the community during the event, with the winner announced at the end of the parade. Scarecrow is a loose term; feel free to think outside "the field.” Enjoy being creative, and kudos for using as much recycled and recyclable material as possible.
Teams may consist of an individual, or up to 4 people: family, friends, co-workers, or neighbors. Scarecrows must be self-supporting or seated on the ground, non-political, brought to the registration table between 9 – 10 a.m. on the day of the event, and removed by the creators following the event. PLVC will assign each scarecrow a number for anonymous voting and placement along the parade route.Sign-up required. Visit portludlowvillagecouncil.org for full details and to register.
Pet Food Drive
Participants and attendees are encouraged to bring a donation for our Pet Food Drive. At the end of the event, all donations will be divided among the participating animal shelters.
This free community-wide event is generating enthusiasm, and more information about vendors and sponsors will follow. Even if you are not participating in the contest, come out and enjoy the event, vote for “Best in Crow,” purchase lunch from The Fireside Inn booth, stop by our famous bake sale table, or visit the on-site animal shelter representatives.
Information and details for these events, including contest rules, photo submission, scarecrow walk, and canine parade registration, are posted on our website, portludlowvillagecouncil.org.
