Winter Garden Birds in Port Ludlow: The Topic at Dine and Discover
by Allan and Nancy Kiesler

Year-round, we watch birds of all types enjoying our backyard bird feeders, but the winter birds interest us the most. Who are they and how do they manage during the cold and wet or snowy winter months? Why don’t they head to warmer climates as many humans do? These and many other questions will be answered at November’s Dine and Discover when Bob Boekelheide from the Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society presents Winter Garden Birds of the North Olympic Peninsula.
North and South Bay members and their guests are invited to attend this presentation, which will be held at the Bay Club on Monday, November 2, at 6 p.m. Sign-up sheets will be available at the front desk at both the Beach and the Bay Club by Friday, October 9.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Whatever dish you sign up to bring, please make it large enough to serve 8-10 people. If you bring an appetizer, please bring one that can be easily served by our volunteers. Dips do not work well. Some folks have dietary issues, so please put a note on your dish if it contains any of the following allergens: wheat, soy, eggs, milk, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, or shellfish. You will also need to bring your place setting (plates, napkins, eating utensils, glasses), placemats if desired, and a plastic bag to put your dirty dishes in to go home. We provide coffee/tea/water, but if you would prefer something else to drink, you’re welcome to bring your beverage of choice.
Admission is $5.00 per person, payable at the door. This covers the cost of the facility, coffee/tea, banquet permit, and the honorarium we provide to the speaker. If you sign up but are unable to attend, please let us know, as no-shows can significantly affect the food selection. Questions or suggestions – call us at 360-437-8091. We look forward to seeing you there.
