Ever dream of being Walter Mitty, Robin Hood, Thelma, or Louise? Imagine transforming yourself into a character that solves a murder mystery, commits a crime, or finds romance? If so, come to a Play Readers Club session at the Beach Club on the third Tuesday of every month (January – October) at 6 p.m. Reading aloud a character’s part in a play is a great way for you to stimulate your mind, flex your creative muscle, and enjoy a social gathering, without the stress of memorizing lines, wearing costumes, or attending rehearsals.
Here’s how it works. The Ludlow Village Players (LVP) selects a comedy or drama for the night’s reading. A LVP member leads the session, describes the characters, and offers attendees a role for each character. For those who want to participate, they select a character and then read aloud their parts in the play. There’s no pressure to participate. You can just sit and listen, but it’s a fun way to become one of the characters, hamming it up as much as you like. You don’t need to memorize any lines; you only need to read aloud.
Rest assured, LVP has a good feeling for the type of play that you’ll find enjoyable. Often, a Play Readers Club session serves as a good way to evaluate a play for the next LVP performance. Join us at 6 p.m. on the third Tuesday of any month at the Beach Club and transform yourself into an actor. If you’re interested, email readers@ludlowvillageplayers.org. You’ll receive an email with information about the next Play Readers Club session.
The Beach Club is located at 121 Marina View Drive in Port Ludlow.
