The Voice Has Something to Say at Dine and Discover

by Allan and Nancy Kiesler, Guest Writers

When you find a copy of the Port Ludlow Voice in your mailbox at the beginning of every month, the first thing you notice is the always impressive cover photo.  After that, you peruse the many pages of articles, announcements, and advertisements.  Have you ever thought about what a big job it must be to produce the Voice monthly, year after year?  So many things to do (too many to list here) and then to accomplish them by a deadline.

We have, which is why we invited Donna Geer and Milt Lum, long-time volunteers with the Voice, to share what it takes to produce our treasured monthly print publication, recent changes, and the future.

Donna and Milt’s presentation will be held at the Bay Club on Monday, May 4.  Sign-up sheets will be available at the front desk at both the Beach and the Bay Club by April 10.  This event is open to North and South Bay members and their guests. We suggest you arrive at 5:30 p.m. and appetizers will start being served soon after. For those who bring an appetizer, please arrive 10 minutes early and bring an appetizer that can be easily served by our volunteers.  Dips do not work well. Whatever dish you sign up to bring, please make it large enough to serve 8-10 people. Some of us have dietary issues, so please put a note on your dish if it contains any of the following allergens: wheat, soy, eggs, milk, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, or shellfish.

To minimize our cost and ecological footprint, we ask that you bring your place setting (plates, napkins, eating utensils, glasses), placemats, if desired, and a plastic bag to put your dirty dishes in to go home. We provide coffee/tea/water but if you would prefer something else to drink, you’re welcome to bring your beverage of choice. Admission is $5 per person payable at the door. This covers the cost of the facility, coffee/tea, banquet permit and the honorarium we provide to the speakers. If you sign up but are unable to attend, please let us know as no-shows can significantly affect the food selection. Questions or suggestions - call us at 360-437-8091. We look forward to seeing you there at our last Dine and Discover of the 2025-2026 season.
