Taking Care of Our Schools, Investing in Our Kids

2 min read

If you drove up Rhody Drive past our schools this summer, you may have noticed quite a bit of work happening. Contractors and Chimacum staff have been busy with roofing, painting, improvements to the weight room, grounds work, sidewalk and site improvements, and a few other repairs and upgrades that help keep our campuses in good shape and ready for students. We are looking sharp for the start of school!

This work is not flashy, but it matters. A sound roof, good insulation and windows, well-maintained buildings, safe walkways, dependable systems, and welcoming learning spaces all contribute to a school environment where students and staff can focus on what matters most: learning, growing, and building community.

Facilities work is about good stewardship: taking care of what we have, fixing things before small problems become expensive ones, and making thoughtful investments that extend the life of our schools and protect resources for students. These allow us to take care of our buildings, equipment, and other infrastructure with capital dollars rather than leaning on the general fund—those resources that support teachers, staff, classrooms, and student programs.

We continue to be grateful to our community for supporting Chimacum’s capital levy. Your support helps us keep our kids safe, warm, dry, and learning in spaces that feel cared for and ready for them.

Let the school year begin!

Our Champions for Chimacum school tours are a great way to visit classrooms, meet staff, students, and get a firsthand look at opportunities happening across our district. And have lunch with us!
