Welcome to June! Flowers are blooming and our yards are green, plants are growing, and the swallows are back! I’ve got bird nesting boxes up for nuthatches, flickers and swallows. One swallow box is already claimed by a pair of swallows. I’m waiting for the other occupants to find their new homes.
South Bay has been a busy, hopping place this last month! We had a very successful Pancake Breakfast on Friday, May 1st for Friends of East Jefferson County Fire Prevention and Rescue. Chief Bret Black was there along with Robert Wittenberg and firefighter, Eric of the CARES program.
We had engaging presentations and lectures throughout the month. Our Memorial Day event was very moving with presentations from our local vets, Taps played by our residents Randy and John, and Keith ending our ceremony playing Amazing Grace on his bagpipes
We hosted an Ocho de Mayo Fiesta Mexicana on May 9 for our 2nd Friday of the month Members’ Social. Carlos from Molcajete catered our event. On Friday, June 12th our Members Social will be a BBQ with hamburgers and hot dogs grilled to perfection by our grill masters Gil, Ted and Geoff. The band, Still Got It, will play at our event.
Our Members’ Lounge is going strong. We have opened outdoor seating as of mid-May, weather permitting.
Check out our lectures and presentations for June. They are listed in SBCA Important dates column.
Flag Day is just days away on June 14th. A huge thanks to all who help place flags out throughout our Port Ludlow community for this special day.
SBCA members: Mark your calendars for July 15th at 1:00 p.m. for our South Bay Community Association Annual Meeting. It’s an important meeting to attend as a homeowner. Your vote counts! We hope to see you there!
