Roses at Port Ludlow Garden Club

“Loveliest of lovely things are they, on earth, that soonest pass away. The rose that lives its little hour is prized beyond the sculptured flower.”

~William Cullen Bryant, American poet (1794-1878)

For thousands of years, the rose has been a symbol of beauty, love, and passion, and it remains so today. Growing roses can be demanding or carefree. Says whom??? Roses are shrubs of many forms, available for every bloom season and in a range of colors. Knowing rose classifications helps in understanding their growth habit, climate preferences, and general requirements. If you would like to learn more about how to grow our U.S. national flower then you will want to come to this garden club presentation at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8 at the Beach Club. You might even hear about what a rosarian is.

There will be multiple varieties of roses available for purchase on a pre order basis at $25 each from members of the Kitsap Rose Society which are said to be of a high quality. The list has been emailed to the garden club members so they could be ordered in May. Please look at it and select what you would like to order by responding to the form, so those will be available.Cash only for payment. All are welcome with a guest charge of $5.

Please RSVP to portludlowgardenclub@outlook.com. Refreshments are served.
