Hydranga Frenzy!

In Port Ludlow, the hydrangeas start to bloom in May and June, and to our delight, those beautiful flowers keep blooming throughout the summer. Every year, these plants perform their magic and amaze us with their variety of colors and flowers. Our presenter, Mr. Mike Boock, will help you achieve that beautiful display in your own yard.

Mike Boock is a Washington State Master Gardener who lives in Port Ludlow. He will be talking about hydrangeas and their versatility and use in a variety of garden settings. He will include a review of the most popular types of hydrangeas, their planting and growing conditions, care and maintenance, and their uses in a garden.

Mike is known for his presentations about Jefferson County on such diverse subjects as creating a bog garden and the selection and care of Japanese maples. In addition, he has been a contributor to the Port Townsend Leader’s Garden Notes, recently writing about efforts to curtail noxious weeds in Jefferson County. 

The Washington State Master Gardener Program is a volunteer-based, research-driven horticultural and environmental education program offered through Washington State University Extension, providing training, community service, and lifelong learning opportunities.

This event will be held at the Bay Club in Port Ludlow on Wednesday, August 12 at 11 a.m. The Garden Club is open to all local residents. Members and guests must RSVP five days prior to the event.
