Jefferson County Library District Rings in a New Year of Programs

Happy New Year from the Jefferson County Library District! As we turn the page into a

brand-new chapter, the Library District would like to extend warm wishes to our incredible community. In the spirit of the New Year, let us make resolutions to learn something new, share stories, and foster a sense of togetherness.

We want to take a moment to express our gratitude for your donations to the Library

District’s Annual Winter Giving campaign. Your support means the world to us, and your

generosity has been inspiring! We’ve extended the campaign through January 7, so if you’d still like to give, please visit jclibrary.info/winter-giving. Your kindness keeps mobile services thriving and helps us achieve our goal of feeding minds and fueling dreams.

There’s still time to join the Kids & Teens Winter Read! Sign up and track your progress at cleoreads.beanstack.com, or pick up a paper tracker at the library. Read through the featured titles for a chance to win a gift card at a local bookstore. The Winter Read runs through January 18.

Start the New Year with some self-care. On Thursday, January 8, from 10:15  –  11:15 a.m., adults ages 18+ are invited to enjoy a peaceful hour of Art & Music Meditation. We’ll begin with a short reading, then you can relax and paint while listening to calm music. All supplies are provided – just bring yourself! Please register at jclibrary.info or call the Library District before January 8.

Our monthly LEGO® at the Library program also meets on Thursday, January 8, from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. Kids ages 7–11 can build creations with friends in a fun, open space. Each month includes creative challenges that build teamwork and problem-solving skills. All are welcome to join in.

Do you want to be better prepared for emergencies? Come to our monthly Disaster and

Emergency Preparedness program. In January, staff from the Department of Emergency

Management (DEM) will show you how to make preparedness a simple New Year’s

resolution, with small steps you can take each month. They’ll also share their Prepare in a Year guide. Start the new year with a plan! Join us on Thursday, January 15, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Please visit jclibrary.info to sign up.

The new year brings an exciting new lineup of Live Online Author Talks. Political

Commentator David Brooks joins us online on Tuesday, January 13, from 11 a.m. – noon to discuss his book, How to Know a Person. Award-winning journalist Julia Hotz will join us on Tuesday, January 20, from 11 a.m. – noon to chat about The Connection Cure.

And finally, on Wednesday, January 28, from 4 – 5 p.m., bestselling author Liz

Moore will share her newest novel The God of the Woods. Visit jclibrary.info to sign up, send questions to the authors, and see more Live Online Author Talks .
