The following programs are open to Port Ludlow Community residents. All programs are at the Bay Club, 120 Spinnaker Place, and will begin at 1p.m. Programs are free of charge.
Informational and Educational presentations are intended to provide a forum for increasing knowledge for members of our community. Just as one needs on-going exercise to strengthen the body, these presentations are intended to help ongoing strengthening of the mind. Topics and speakers from a multitude of backgrounds will be offered for our members.
March 12: Richard Tucker, Executive Director of Jefferson Land Trust, will be discussing his organization. The following is from their web page: “They’ve created new parks, rehabilitated injured wildlife and worked coast to coast on conservation. The Board and Staff at Jefferson Land Trust are a curious bunch of scientists, naturalists, educators, business owners, hikers and mushroom hunters. Learn more about them and their favorite local place, wildlife, and food.”
March 19: David Brownell returns to continue our series on First Nation People of the Pacific Northwest. In this presentation, A Look at the Lyre (River), he will dive into the history of the Lyre River through geological and natural history of the small town of Gettysburg that formerly stood just east of the mouth of the Lyre.
March 24: Jefferson Health Care physical therapists will be presenting Preventing Fall and Hip Injuries. Falls can occur for various reasons, but the good news is that there are many ways to reduce the risk and keep moving with confidence. We invite you to join physical therapists Ann Armstrong and Chris Martinez, along with occupational therapist Erica Liepelt, for a session focused on maintaining your balance and promoting hip health.
This session will provide simple, practical tips to help you improve your balance, build strength, and support hip health during everyday activities such as walking, using stairs, and doing household chores. They will also discuss easy changes you can implement at home to enhance safety and avoid common tripping hazards.
