Informational and Educational Programs for the Port Ludlow Community

These programs are open to Port Ludlow Community residents and are free of charge. All programs are at the Bay Club, 120 Spinnaker Place, and will begin at 1 p.m.
Informational and Educational presentations are intended to provide a forum for increasing knowledge for members of our community. Just as one needs on-going exercise to strengthen the body, these presentations are intended to help on-going strengthening of the mind. Topics and speakers from a multitude of backgrounds will be offered for our members.
Thursday, February 12, “Old Patsey's Potlatch of July 4, 1891.” David Brownell, Executive Director of the North Olympic History Center, will talk about the final potlatch which was held on Port Townsend Bay at Port Hadlock. The occasion was photographed and recorded in the journal of Judge James Wickersham. Tribes from around the Peninsula and Puget Sound as well as local Port Townsend residents attended, and “Old Patsey” gave away over $2,000 of goods to his guests.
Wednesday, February 17, “Eating a Heart Healthy Diet.” Inpatient Dietitian Mary Angelee Brown, RDN, CD from Jefferson Healthcare will provide practical advice on how to create a heart-healthy eating plan that can lower your risk of cardiovascular disease. Angelee Brown is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who specializes in medical nutrition therapy and disease prevention.
