The new informal Friday: Hiking Group will replace the existing formal “every other Friday” Port Ludlow Hiking Club hikes beginning in July. The existing formal Hiking Club structure with its semi-annual schedules, pre-hike notices, Voice articles and a website does not match the participation level seen in the last year. There have been multiple hikes this year with less than five hikers, and it has been very hard to get hike leaders. So the plan is to switch to informal hikes on the first and third Friday of each month. There will be no semi-annual schedules, pre-hike notices or Voice articles associated with these hikes, and the Port Ludlow Hiking Club website portludlowhikingclub.com will be retired.
Friday: Hiking Group. Meet on the first and third Friday of each month at the Bridge Deck in Port Ludlow at 8 a.m. to decide where to hike that day and to arrange carpools. This is a no-leader hike. However, anyone who wants to lead the hike can gather the group of potential hikers together and plan the hike. The hikers can select from a wide range of hikes in the surrounding area. The hikers decide the hike difficulty and length.
Wednesdays: Timberton Loop. Walk the 4.2-mile Timberton Loop. Enjoy views of the Olympic Mountains. This is a no-leader hike. Meet other walkers at the parking lot trailhead on Timberton Drive at 9 a.m.
Monday/Wednesday/Friday — 8 a.m. Join the “Trail Club Group” that meets at the golf club parking lot for a self-led walk on the abandoned golf cart path trail or another alternative route.
