Fall into October with the Jefferson County Library District

It’s spooky season at the Jefferson County Library! This October we’re closed on the 12th in celebration of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, and again on the 21st for Staff Education Day. Visit our program calendar at jclibrary.info for more information.


On Thursday, October 15, 5 – 6 p.m., join us for an Author Talk with Lisa Coutu. We’ll be discussing her new book,Communicating Cancer: Strategies for You, Family and Friends. This book is a guide for anyone who struggles with difficult conversations around their diagnosis.


Looking to add a fun fall flair to your home? We’re creating succulent covered Pumpkins! Join us for the Fall Succulent Pumpkin workshop led by Vicki Miller on Monday, October 19, 2– 4 p.m.


Let's get grounded in our local flora with Native Plant Workshop: “Trees, Please!” Thursday, October 22, 4 – 6 p.m. Led by the Jefferson County Conservation District and Mason Conservation District’s Stewardship Foresters, Brigitta Mathews and Margaret Kreder. We’ll learn how planting native trees and shrubs can benefit the environment and ecosystem.


Join us for Genealogy Basics on Saturday, October 31, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. This beginner class will show you the basic steps, like keeping records organized and reading certificates. Are you a more advanced researcher? Register to meet with a genealogist for help with your family tree from 12:15 – 1:15 p.m., or 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Bring your family history questions and laptop or smart device to show the work you have already done. Please register for only one session, and please wear your Halloween costumes!
