Chimacum High School Band to March in National Independence Day Parade

Port Ludlow Performing Arts (PLPA) is proud to celebrate an extraordinary milestone for our local students. The Chimacum High School Cowboy Marching Band has been selected to represent Washington State in the National Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C. on July 4. This prestigious invitation coincides with the nation’s 250^th anniversary and marks a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these talented young musicians.

For PLPA, this milestone is especially meaningful. For nearly 30 years, the PLPA has been committed to supporting music education in the Chimacum School District by supplying instrument rentals, equipment, uniforms, music resources, travel assistance, and educational programs. Seeing our local band earn national recognition is a powerful reminder of what sustained community support can help make possible.

The news was revealed during the Veterans Day program at Chimacum High School on November 10, 2025. Principal Ryan Stevens proudly announced the band's selection, prompting cheers and applause from the audience. This prestigious invitation recognizes the dedication and hard work of the band members and their esteemed director, Daniel Ferland.

This selection is a major achievement for the band, acknowledging their recent accomplishments, including winning Best March at the regional competition last spring. The band's commitment to excellence has clearly resonated beyond our local community, earning them this national spotlight.
