Center Valley Animal Rescue to Speak at Dine and Discover

by Allan and Nancy Kiesler, Guest Writers

Center Valley Animal Rescue (CVAR), founded in 2002 by Sara Penhallegon, is a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. Located near Quilcene, CVAR’s mission is to provide “safe harbor and rehabilitation for unwanted, injured or abandoned domesticated and wild animals.” It places adoptable animals in loving homes, providing lifelong sanctuary to domestic animals not suitable for adoption. CVAR also works to rehabilitate and release injured wild animals. Additionally, it offers low income spay-neuter services and responds with law enforcement to domestic abuse situations. CVAR partners with many other rescue organizations to carry out amazing things. On Monday, February 2, at 5:30 p.m., Sara will join us to talk about these accomplishments and share CVAR’s future plans.

CVAR’s presentation will be held at the Beach Club, but sign-up sheets will be available at the front desks of both the Beach and the Bay Club. If you are interested, please sign-up by January 9.

This event is open to North and South Bay members and their guests. If you bring an appetizer, please be sure it is large enough to serve 8-10 people and can easily be served by our volunteers (please avoid dips). Some of us have dietary issues, so please put a note on your dish if it contains any of the following allergens: wheat, soy, eggs, milk, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, or shellfish. Bring your place setting (plates, napkins, eating utensils, glasses), placemats, if desired, and a plastic bag to carry your dirty dishes home. We provide coffee/tea/water but if you would prefer something else to drink, you’re welcome to bring your beverage of choice.

Admission is $5 per person, payable at the door, which covers the cost of the facility, coffee/tea, banquet permit, and the honorarium we provide to the speaker. If you sign up but are unable to attend, please let us know as no-shows can significantly affect the food selection. Questions or suggestions? Call us at 360-437-8091. We look forward to seeing you there. We encourage everyone to bring a friend who has yet to experience Dine and Discover.
