Bears have been sighted on the Timberton Loop. A female bear and cub crossed the trail ahead of Dean Morgan recently, disappearing into the brush. It was between markers 14 and 15. Hikers should be encouraged to make noise, not hike alone, wear bells, etc.


Rental Rules Discussed at Hearing

There is a hearing before the Dept of Community Development on August 24, 2 pm at the Jefferson County Courthouse in Port Townsend, regarding an appeal by Jeff Jelinek against the complaint made that he is renting his home on Foster Lane as a short term (daily, weekly) rental. This is also being discussed at the CDC committee of the Village Council on Thursday, August 19 at 3 pm at the Beach Club. I think the decision made by the Hearing Examiner at the August 24 meeting might have a big impact for the whole community if he rules against the county.
