Display Advertising

Display advertising in the Port Ludlow Voice is limited to a 1/8-page size only.

Ad width is 3-5/8 inches and ad height is 2-1/4 inches. All ads must have a 1-point rule which we will add if not included in your artwork. The type and graphics must fit inside the rule with a narrow margin all around.

We recommend that you use a free-lance designer to create your ad. The Port Ludlow Voice is nonprofit and is managed entirely by volunteers. We do not have a volunteer to assist with designing advertising; that is the responsibility of the advertiser, who should use a graphics specialist. Just as you wouldn’t expect graphic designers to do your job, you should not waste your time trying to do theirs.

Our advertising staff can provide names and phone numbers of designers who can help you. Ads should be sent via e-mail as PDF files to bwagnerj@olympus.net. PageMaker, Adobe InDesign and the latest versions of MSPublisher have provisions for creating PDF files. Because no two computers have the same versions of fonts, the only way you can be assured that your advertisement will not change when it is transmitted is through the use of a PDF file, and you must use the press quality export in order to embed the fonts.

Note: PhotoShop and PhotoShop Elements programs are essentially for graphics and photography, they should NOT be used for creating print advertising.

PREPAID CONTRACT RATES FOR DISPLAY ADVERTISING

Ad Size 3-5/8” wide x 2-1/4” high

In order to qualify for the discounted rates quoted above, full payment for the contract period must be received by the first of the month prior to the first month of the contract period.  In addition, the Voice is now offering a “large” display ad, twice the size and twice the rate as the standard size ad.  The rate will be $140/month.  Also, we are offering ad space on our new website for $10/month or $100/year.  The ads would have the same size criteria, etc. as the existing display ads.

The Voice does not accept cash:  Checks are to be made to the Port Ludlow Voice and mailed to 220 Cameron Drive, Port Ludlow, 98365.

Advertisements must be submitted as computer-ready PDF files.  We can supply the names of specialists who will help you with the conversion of your Publisher files or create your ads for a nominal fee.  PDF files, copy and jpg or tif files of your logo art should be submitted by e-mail to bwagnerj@plvoice.org by the 5^th of the month prior to publication month.

The Voice accepts only a limited number of display advertisements each month.  Preference is given to prepaid advertisers while all other ads are accepted on a space-available basis, in the order they are submitted and payment received.  First-time advertisers without a credit history will be expected to pay the one-time ad rate prior to publication.
